## King George VI Chase Betting Offers

The **King George VI Chase** is the Boxing Day highlight of the jumps season: a Grade 1 over three miles at Kempton Park on 26 December, and second only to the Cheltenham Gold Cup among staying chases.

It is not the King George at Ascot. The King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes is a Flat race run in July, and it has its [own offers page](/bookmakers/king-george-offers/). This page is for the Kempton chase only.

The table below lists our partners' welcome offers, each with its significant terms beside it, and the section after it sets out who pays Best Odds Guaranteed on a Boxing Day card. For the race itself, our [King George VI Chase guide](/racing-news/king-george-vi-chase/) covers the history and the trends.

*18+. New customers only unless stated. Significant terms apply to every offer on this page. Bet responsibly: [BeGambleAware.org](https://www.begambleaware.org).*

### Best Odds Guaranteed on Boxing Day

A Boxing Day card is a busy betting day, and the King George market can move a long way between the morning and the off as ground and declarations firm up. Best Odds Guaranteed (BOG) pays the bigger of your taken price and the starting price, so it is worth knowing which of our partners pay it before you bet.

Every firm below excludes ante-post bets from BOG, so a price taken weeks before the meeting is not covered. Checked at the operators' own pages on 9 October unless stated:

- **QuinnBet**: BOG on UK and Irish racing for bets placed from 10am on race day, with the extra it pays capped per bet.
- **BetGoodwin**: BOG on UK and Irish horse and greyhound racing, capped per bet, with special markets and international racing excluded.
- **LiveScore Bet**: BOG on UK and Irish racing from 10am, but only once you have staked a set amount with them over the previous seven days.
- **Star Sports**: no BOG. It withdrew the concession and has not brought it back.
- **William Hill**: its help pages made BOG invitation-only. We could not re-read that page on 9 October (it refuses automated access), so this rests on our July check.
- **Betfred**: BOG on UK and Irish racing in our July check. Betfred's site blocks automated reading, so we could not re-check it.

For the full year-round comparison, see our [best BOG bookmakers](/bookmakers/best-bog-bookmakers/) guide.

### Backing the King George ante-post

If you back a horse weeks before Boxing Day and it does not run, most firms settle that as a losing bet unless the market was marked Non-Runner No Bet. Kwiff's own betting rules say exactly that for its ante-post markets. Check that the market shows NRNB before you take an early price, or wait for the final declarations, when that risk falls away.

## Frequently Asked Questions

### When is the King George VI Chase?

On Boxing Day, 26 December, at Kempton Park. It is the centrepiece of Kempton's Christmas card.

### Is this the same race as the King George at Ascot?

No. The King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes is a Flat race at Ascot in July. The King George VI Chase is a three-mile jumps race at Kempton on Boxing Day. They share a name and nothing else, so check which one an offer refers to.

### Can I use a welcome free bet on the King George?

Usually, if the free bet meets its own minimum-odds rule. Some welcome free bets can only go on accumulators, so check the conditions on each offer card before you plan a single on the race.

### Does Best Odds Guaranteed cover an ante-post bet on the King George?

No. Every partner listed here excludes ante-post bets from BOG, and the firms that time-limit it only cover bets placed from 10am on race day.
