## The 2026 Distaff at a glance

**The Breeders' Cup Distaff is a seven-runner race as the official entry list stands on Friday 30 October.** Scottish Lassie and Splendora are marked scratched. That changes the shape of a race billed as a meeting between the leading American dirt fillies and mares: Nitrogen and Fully Subscribed now head the morning line at 6-5 and 8-5.

The Grade 1 is run at Keeneland on Saturday 31 October over 1⅛ miles on dirt, with a $2 million purse. It is due off at **8.58pm UK time** (4.58pm Eastern). These are scheduled post times; the racecourse can run late.

## Seven runners after two scratches

The [organiser's live Distaff entries](https://www.breederscup.com/horses/pre-entries/distaff) showed the following runners and **morning-line** odds when checked on 30 October. These are published estimates of the US betting market, not current UK bookmaker prices or a guarantee that every runner reaches the stalls.

<div data-element="data-table">

| Post | Runner | Trainer | Morning line |
|---:|---|---|---:|
| 1 | Immersive | Brad Cox | 30-1 |
| 2 | Nitrogen | Mark Casse | 6-5 |
| 3 | Regaled | D. Whitworth Beckman | 20-1 |
| 4 | Fully Subscribed | Chad Brown | 8-5 |
| 6 | Measure | Mark Casse | 20-1 |
| 7 | Super Corredora | John Sadler | 15-1 |
| 9 | Eunomia | Saffie Joseph Jr. | 30-1 |

Post 5, **Scottish Lassie**, and post 8, **Splendora**, were shown as scratched by the organiser. Splendora's absence matters: she had been a 9-2 contender on the original morning line and was last year's Filly & Mare Sprint winner. The numbers left empty in the draw are her and Scottish Lassie's original posts, not mistakes in the table.

A field can still change. Check the [live entries](https://www.breederscup.com/horses/pre-entries/distaff) again before placing any bet or quoting a field size.

## Nitrogen and Fully Subscribed

Nitrogen has the strongest single piece of head-to-head evidence. In June's Ogden Phipps at Saratoga she beat Fully Subscribed by **12¾ lengths**. Her [Breeders' Cup profile](https://www.breederscup.com/news/2026/nitrogen-seeks-another-championship) also records that she finished second in last year's Distaff behind Scylla. In September she won the Beldame over the Distaff's 1⅛-mile trip. Her draw in post 2 leaves room to seek a position before the first turn.

Fully Subscribed has made a stronger case since that June defeat. She won the Personal Ensign in August, then the [Spinster at Keeneland on 4 October](https://www.breederscup.com/news/2026/payson-stud-back-in-breeders-cup-spotlight-with-fully-subscribed) by 3¼ lengths from Counting Stars. Immersive was third, another six lengths back. Fully Subscribed has therefore won at this venue and distance in her latest race, a real piece of evidence that the June margin does not tell the whole story.

The morning line makes Nitrogen favourite and Fully Subscribed second choice. It does not settle whether the Ogden Phipps margin or the more recent Keeneland run is more predictive. We would treat that as the central form question, then look at the price actually available in Britain before deciding whether either is worth supporting.

## What the rest of the field brings

Immersive is the interesting long price on the official morning line. She won the 2024 Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies, so this is a return to the event at a different age and trip. Yet her third behind Fully Subscribed in the Spinster leaves a clear form gap to close. The original 30-1 morning line may also be a poor guide after two scratches; the live market will reflect the smaller field.

Regaled, Measure, Super Corredora and Eunomia complete the current official entry list. Their posts range from 3 to 9, with the two scratched horses leaving gaps. We have not turned that into a claimed draw bias: the run into the first turn involves pace, position and the way the field breaks, and seven runners give no simple rule from a gate number alone.

For the other Saturday championship races, the [Mile preview](/racing-news/breeders-cup-mile-2026-preview/) and [Turf preview](/racing-news/breeders-cup-turf-2026-preview/) cover the stronger European interest. This Distaff page owns the female dirt field, not an all-card set of tips.

## How to read the market from the UK

A morning line is an estimate made before the American pari-mutuel pools settle. UK bookmakers offer their own fixed odds. The price you can take from Britain may differ substantially from 6-5 or 8-5, particularly after the scratches. Our [guide to what odds mean](/ai-race-predictor/lab/understand-odds/) explains why the likeliest winner can still be too short a price to justify a bet.

Check each-way terms before using a seven-runner field as the basis for a bet. The number of paid places and the place fraction vary by bookmaker and can change after non-runners. [Each-way betting explained](/betting/bet-types/each-way/) covers the calculation. Check non-runner terms as well: [ante-post betting](/betting/bet-types/ante-post-betting/) is a different contract from a bet placed after final declarations.

Our AI model rates British and Irish racing, not this American race, so there is no Stablebet model price for the Distaff. We cannot claim a statistical edge from the draw or the morning line. If the market has shortened sharply since the scratches, it is reasonable to leave the race alone.

The [AI Lab's Breeders' Cup analysis](/ai-race-predictor/blog/breeders-cup-2026-ai-predictions/) works through the morning-line arithmetic: the two shortest prices account for most of the illustrative book, while the other five still have a meaningful share. It also explains why that calculation is not an AI prediction.
