That mix is why the meeting fits it. It covers 1,234 acres and is a National Historic Landmark. The dirt track is a 1 1/16-mile oval with a home straight of 1,236 feet, according to Keeneland's own guides. ### Three meetings, three big days - **2015:** American Pharoah won the Classic by 6½ lengths in a track-record 2:00.07, completing the first Grand Slam. Found beat that year's Arc winner Golden Horn in the Turf. Saturday's crowd of 50,155 remains Keeneland's single-day record. - **2020:** no spectators, because of the pandemic. Authentic won the Classic in a track-record 1:59.60 for Bob Baffert. - **2022:** Flightline won the Classic by 8¼ lengths at 2/5, the widest margin in the race's history. About 85,800 attended across the two days. ### 2026 Attendance is capped at 43,000 a day. Tickets are mobile-only through SeatGeek with no gate sales, from $85, and $3m has been spent on new chalets and loge boxes. Keeneland says that gives a smaller crowd than 2015, so book early if you are travelling. ## The sales ring Keeneland runs five sales a year. This September's Yearling Sale (14 to 26 September) sold 2,856 yearlings through the ring for $536.7m, a record, with a record average of $187,933 and a record 70 yearlings at $1m or more. Including post-sale deals the total was $558.3m, the highest gross for any thoroughbred auction, according to Thoroughbred Daily News and BloodHorse. The November Breeding Stock Sale runs from Tuesday 3 to Tuesday 10 November, three days after the Classic. Its record is $10.5m for Playful Act, bought for Sheikh Mohammed in 2007. The 2025 sale grossed $245.9m, reported as the highest since that year. The link to the racing is direct. Several of the farms that stand the sport's best-known stallions are within reach of the track. - **Ashford Stud** (Coolmore America) and **Lane's End**, home to Flightline, are both near Versailles. So is **WinStar**. - **Godolphin's Jonabell Farm** is close to Keeneland and Blue Grass Airport. - **Juddmonte** has about 2,500 acres on the southern edge of Lexington and has sponsored Keeneland's Spinster Stakes since 2005. The **Kentucky Horse Park** opened in 1978 and covers 1,224 acres. It holds the International Museum of the Horse and the Man o' War statue, and is the easiest non-racing stop for a visitor.
