## Ebor Festival 2026: the results, day by day

The Sky Bet Ebor Festival runs from **Wednesday 19 to Saturday 22 August 2026** at York, four days on the Knavesmire with a Group 1 feature on each of the first three and Europe's richest flat handicap to finish. This is the results hub: each day's key winners, with starting prices, added and verified from source as the cards finish. Nothing is filled in ahead of time. A race appears here only once it has been run and the result confirmed.

The week runs feature to feature. The **Juddmonte International**, the richest race of York's season and three times ranked the world's best horse race, opens on Wednesday. Thursday is Ladies' Day, built around the **Yorkshire Oaks**. Friday brings the **Nunthorpe**, the fastest race of the meeting over the minimum trip, and Saturday closes with the **Ebor Handicap** itself, first run in 1843 and the best each-way betting race of the late summer.

For the week ahead rather than the week just run, the [Ebor Festival hub](/festivals/ebor-festival/) has the day-by-day schedule, and the evergreen [Ebor Festival guide](/racing-news/ebor-festival/) covers the races and how to follow the meeting. For the track itself, see our [York racecourse guide](/uk-racecourses/york/), and for the opening day in depth, our guide to [Juddmonte International Day](/uk-racecourses/york/ebor-day-york/).

For a different read on the same results, our [AI tipster tracker for Ebor](/ai-race-predictor/blog/ebor-festival-2026-ai-tipster-verdict/) runs five AI models against the market's own favourite through the meeting, picks and results published in full, day by day.

## Wednesday 19 August: Juddmonte International Day

The festival opens with its richest race. The **Juddmonte International** (Group 1, 1m 2f) is an open-age middle-distance championship with a roll of honour carrying Sea The Stars, Frankel, Baaeed and City Of Troy, and it has been ranked the world's best horse race three times.

**Item (10/1, Colin Keane, Andrew Balding) won**, beating **Almaqam (14/1)** by a head with **Constitution River (7/4)** three and a half lengths back in third. Favourite **Ombudsman (5/6F)** could only finish fourth. Item's win came 25 days after the same horse took the Sky Bet York Stakes over this exact course and distance.

For the full result, running order and reaction, see our [Juddmonte International 2026 result](/racing-news/juddmonte-international-2026-result/), and what Item's win did to his [Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe price](/racing-news/item-arc-price-juddmonte-reaction/).

Wednesday's other Group race went the way of the Derby form. **Maltese Cross** reversed the Epsom placings to win the **Great Voltigeur Stakes**, with Derby winner Christmas Day back in third. See the [Great Voltigeur Stakes 2026 result](/racing-news/great-voltigeur-stakes-2026-result/) for the full story and what it means for the St Leger.

## Thursday 20 August: Yorkshire Oaks & Ladies' Day

Thursday is the social high point of the week and carries the **Yorkshire Oaks** (Group 1, 1m 3f 188y), regularly the strongest fillies' and mares' race in Europe.

**Kalpana (10/11F, Colin Keane, Andrew Balding) won**, holding on by a short head from 25/1 outsider **Sparan Nua**, with defending champion **Minnie Hauk** unable to land a blow in third and **Earth Shot** fourth. Nine went to post.

The Sky Bet Lowther Stakes earlier in the day went to **Libertango**, who came from last to beat favourite Star Of State by half a length.

## Friday 21 August: Nunthorpe Day

Friday belongs to the sprinters. The **Coolmore City Of Troy Nunthorpe Stakes** (Group 1, 5f) is the fastest race of the week and one of the few top-level events in Europe where two-year-olds can take on older horses at level weights.

**Bacio (3/1, Juan Hernandez, Wesley Ward) won it**, giving the American yard a Group 1 on turf at York. Eighteen went to post on ground officially Good to Soft. **Starlust** (25/1) was second and **Rumstar** (20/1) third, so the placings behind the winner paid handsomely for anyone who had gone deeper into the field.

The supporting card was strong. The **Weatherbys Lonsdale Cup** (Group 2, 2m) went to **Al Nayyir** (9/1, William Buick, Tom Clover) ahead of Illinois, and the **Gimcrack Stakes** (Group 2, 6f) to **Arapaho Gold** (2/1, Connor Beasley, Michael Dods), the shortest-priced winner of the afternoon.

Two of the day's handicaps went to well-backed runners: Blue Courvoisier (13/2) took the Sky Bet Mile and Silver Lake (11/10) the closing fillies' handicap for William Haggas, while Benjamin Hornigold landed the Convivial Maiden at 16/1.

## Saturday 22 August: Ebor Day

The meeting closes with its namesake. The **Ebor Handicap** (1m 5f) has been run since 1843 and is the richest flat handicap in Europe: twenty-plus runners is typical, the field is packed with improving stayers, and the each-way place terms decide more bets than the win price does.

**Daiquiri Bay (10/1, Rossa Ryan, Alan King) won the 2026 running** from a field of twenty-two, with **Hopewell Rock** (13/2) second and **Opportunity** (14/1) third. The first three were separated by less than a length at the line, which is close to the historical character of the race: big field, staying trip, and a finish that takes a photograph to sort out.

Saturday also carried a Group 1. The **Sky Bet City Of York Stakes** (7f) went to **Notable Speech** (9/4, William Buick, Charlie Appleby), the day's most solid favourite, beating Lake Forest. The **Strensall Stakes** (Group 3, 1m) produced the bigger surprise, **Archivist** winning at 9/1 for Callum Rodriguez.

The handicaps stayed competitive to the last. **Infraad** (10/3) took the Melrose for William Haggas, **Sondad** (8/1) the Constantine for Joanna Mason and the Easterby yard, and **Raammee** (13/8) the closing Finale Handicap. In the Listed Roses Stakes, **Sale Shark** (8/1) beat the 2/1 favourite Adonius under Oisin Murphy, who ended the week as the meeting's leading rider.

One number is worth carrying away from Ebor day. The Ebor Handicap itself was the most expensive race of the entire festival to bet in, carrying a bookmaker margin of 43.5% over a fair book across its 22 runners, against 28.1% for the meeting as a whole. We break that down race by race in [the bookmakers' margin at the Ebor Festival](/ai-race-predictor/blog/the-bookmakers-margin-at-the-ebor-festival/).
