## Newmarket July Festival 2026: the results, day by day

The Newmarket July Festival runs from **Thursday 9 to Saturday 11 July 2026** on the July Course, the Rowley Mile's summer sister track. This is the results hub: each day's key winners, with starting prices, added and verified as the cards finish.

Three days, built around two Group 1s. **Thursday** opened the meeting on Ladies' Day, anchored by the **Princess of Wales's Stakes** (Group 2, 1m4f), won by **Rebel's Romance**. **Friday** brought the **Tattersalls Falmouth Stakes** (Group 1, 1m), where **Blue Bolt** (2/1) downed the favourite Precise. **Saturday** closed with the **July Cup** (Group 1, 6f) — one of the world's premier sprints — where **Comanche Brave** (11/1) sprang an upset, beating Venetian Sun and turning over the 2/1 favourite Satono Reve.

For the pre-meeting picture — the trends, the shape of each contest and where the Royal Ascot form lines point — see our [Newmarket July Festival 2026 preview](/racing-news/newmarket-july-festival-2026-preview/). And for each Group 1, the [AI Race Predictor](/ai-race-predictor/) publishes an independent, calibrated probability for every declared runner ahead of the off — a second opinion that shows, runner by runner, where the model and the bookmakers' prices agree or disagree. It's built into the Friday and Saturday sections below.

**Next up on the flat calendar:** the season's mood shifts to the Sussex Downs for **Glorious Goodwood, 28 July–1 August**. Our [Glorious Goodwood 2026 preview and race times](/racing-news/glorious-goodwood/) has the full schedule and signature races, and every day's winners will land in the [Glorious Goodwood 2026 results hub](/racing-news/glorious-goodwood-2026-results/).

## Thursday 9 July — Princess of Wales's Stakes to Rebel's Romance

Ladies' Day's feature, the **Princess of Wales's Stakes** (Group 2, 1m4f), went to the odds-on favourite **Rebel's Romance**, who confirmed his class on his seasonal return under **William Buick** for **Charlie Appleby**. Sent off **8/11**, the Godolphin globetrotter — a dual Breeders' Cup Turf winner with Group 1 form on four continents — saw off his stablemate **Arabian Crown** (18/1) by half a length, with **Almeric** (5/1, Oisin Murphy / Andrew Balding) a further three and a quarter lengths back in third. Just four went to post; the winning time was 2 minutes 27.83 seconds.

### Princess of Wales's Stakes result (Newmarket, 1m4f, Group 2)

| Pos | Horse | SP | Jockey | Trainer |
|-----|-------|----|--------|---------|
| 1st | Rebel's Romance | 8/11f | William Buick | Charlie Appleby |
| 2nd | Arabian Crown | 18/1 | James Doyle | Charlie Appleby |
| 3rd | Almeric | 5/1 | Oisin Murphy | Andrew Balding |

A one-two for Appleby in a small but select field, and a smooth reappearance for a horse who has made a career of travelling and winning. It sets the tone for a meeting that builds to two Group 1s across Friday and Saturday.

## Friday 10 July — Blue Bolt downs Precise in the Falmouth

Friday's centrepiece, the **Tattersalls Falmouth Stakes** (Group 1, 1 mile), went to **Blue Bolt** (2/1), who beat the 4/5 favourite **Precise** by two lengths under **Colin Keane** for **Andrew Balding**. **Balantina** (20/1) was third for Donnacha O'Brien. Seven ran on good to firm.

It was a first Group 1 for Blue Bolt, who remains unbeaten this season and followed up her Royal Ascot win by taking the favourite's measure decisively — ridden prominently throughout and stretching clear inside the final furlong. For Precise, a four-time Group 1 winner this year, it was a rare defeat, and a reminder that the Coronation form she brought here gave nothing away easily.

### Falmouth Stakes result (Newmarket, 1m, Group 1, good to firm)

## Saturday 11 July — Comanche Brave springs the July Cup upset

The festival climaxed on Saturday with the **Al Basti Equiworld, Dubai July Cup** (Group 1, 6 furlongs, three-year-olds and up) — one of the most prestigious sprints in the world and the race that gives the meeting its identity. Run on the July Course's straight six with its stiff uphill finish, it brought the sprint generations together, and the three-year-olds came out on top.

**Comanche Brave** (11/1) took it for **Donnacha O'Brien**, ridden by **Billy Loughnane**, always travelling well before hitting the front over a furlong out and holding on by a length. **Venetian Sun** (6/1), a three-year-old filly for Karl Burke, finished strongly to grab second, and the well-backed Japanese raider **Satono Reve** (2/1 favourite) could only manage third, a nose in front of **Coppull** (25/1). It was a notable reversal for the market: the favourite beaten into the minor placings by a pair of improving sprinters off the back of the Royal Ascot form.

### July Cup result (Newmarket, 6f, Group 1, good to firm)

| Pos | Horse | SP | Jockey | Trainer |
|-----|-------|----|--------|---------|
| 1st | Comanche Brave | 11/1 | Billy Loughnane | Donnacha O'Brien |
