Killarney Racecourse
Ireland's most scenic racecourse, under the MacGillycuddy Reeks.
Killarney Racecourse sits on Ross Road at Scrahane, just outside Killarney town in Co. Kerry, set against the backdrop of Killarney National Park, the Lakes of Killarney and the MacGillycuddy Reeks. Widely billed as Ireland's most scenic track, it stages both Flat and National Hunt racing on turf. The circuit is a sharp, undulating left-handed oval of about one mile and two furlongs, with notably tight bends, particularly the turn away from the stands, and a short dog-legged home straight. Racing here is concentrated into festival meetings, principally three summer festivals in May, July and August, with evening cards a feature. The August Festival is the signature meeting, headlined by the Listed Vincent O'Brien Ruby Stakes and the Kingdom Gold Cup.
