Leopardstown Racecourse

South Dublin's dual-purpose track, home of the Irish Champion Stakes

Leopardstown is a dual-purpose racecourse at Foxrock, about 8 km south of Dublin city centre in Co. Dublin. Completed in 1888 and modelled on Sandown Park, it stages both Flat and National Hunt racing across roughly 22-23 fixtures a year. It is best known for the Irish Champion Stakes, a Group 1 run each September as part of the Irish Champions Festival, and for the Dublin Racing Festival in early February, which features a cluster of Grade 1 jumps races. The track is a wide, left-handed turf circuit of about one and three-quarter miles. It is essentially galloping in character, fairly level with easy turns but with a long, gradual rise up the home straight. The course is served by the Luas Green Line, with a race-day shuttle from Sandyford.
