Tipperary Racecourse
Flat and jumps racing beside Limerick Junction station
Tipperary Racecourse sits at Limerick Junction, about two miles from Tipperary town in Co. Tipperary, and is owned by Horse Racing Ireland. It is the only Irish course adjacent to a railway station, with Limerick Junction a short walk from the enclosures. Racing began at the Limerick Junction venue in 1916; the track was renamed Tipperary in 1986. The left-handed turf circuit is flat and roughly a mile and a quarter round, with a five-furlong straight sprint track that joins at the start of the home straight. The course is dual purpose, staging both Flat and National Hunt fixtures, and is known for summer evening meetings and its October "Super Sunday" mixed card. A new floodlit Polytrack all-weather track is under construction, expected to open in 2027.
