Frequently Asked Questions

The honest answers — how these offers really work, and how we rank them. Full methodology on our how we rank page.

How does a cashback welcome offer work?

If your first bet - or your first day's betting - loses, the bookmaker refunds a percentage of the losses, typically as a free bet up to a stated cap. Win your first bet and there is usually nothing to claim, which is the trade-off against a guaranteed bet-and-get token.

Is cashback the same as a risk-free bet?

No, and the advertising rules agree - the refund is normally a stake-not-returned free bet, not your cash back, so a losing first bet still costs you something. That is why we badge these offers cashback and never call any offer risk-free.

Do I get the refund as real money?

Usually not: the refund arrives as free-bet tokens with their own minimum odds and expiry. A handful of operators refund in cash - the offer card's significant terms state which applies, so check before you stake.

When is a cashback offer the right choice?

When you were going to have a proper first bet anyway and want downside protection rather than a fixed token. Bigger first-day stakes get more back if things go wrong; small-stakes bettors usually extract more from a bet-and-get deal.

Gamble Responsibly

Gambling should be entertaining and not seen as a way to make money. Never bet more than you can afford to lose. If you or someone you know has a gambling problem, help and support is available.
