Why BOG Matters at Royal Ascot
Royal Ascot 2026 — why BOG is the single biggest value lever
Verified Monday 8 June 2026 — 8 days to Royal Ascot week (Tuesday 16 – Saturday 20 June).
Best Odds Guaranteed (BOG) is the simplest and most quantifiable value-add any UK bookmaker offers a racing punter. Take a price in the morning, paid the bigger of taken-price or SP at settlement. For a five-day festival with around 30 races, large fields and prices that move significantly between morning declarations and the off — Royal Ascot is the meeting where BOG pays out most often across a UK Flat season.
The 2024–26 period has seen the UK BOG offer contract significantly across the major bookmakers. Star Sports withdrew Best Odds Guaranteed in December 2024 entirely. Sky Bet operates a £25-in-7-day "Club" gate that excludes non-qualifying customers from BOG. Paddy Power runs an opt-in BOG with a £1,000 daily uplift cap — one of the lowest in the market. BetMGM offers BOG only to "selected players" flagged on the bet slip. Other firms — Betfred, Bet365, Coral, Ladbrokes, BoyleSports — retain across-the-board BOG without these gates.
Lining up which firms still pay BOG, and at what time, before Royal Ascot week is the single highest-leverage compliance step a Flat-racing punter takes. The remaining advantage at the firms that retained clean terms is real and recurring across the five days.

Operator-by-Operator BOG at Royal Ascot 2026
Betfred — BOG on every Royal Ascot race, from 8am, no opt-in
Betfred runs Best Odds Guaranteed across all UK and Irish racing — every Royal Ascot race included — from 8am on race day, with no opt-in and no headline payout cap that affects typical retail stakes. The 2024–26 contraction across rivals (Star Sports out, Sky Bet's Club gate, Paddy Power's £1,000 daily cap) has left Betfred as the cleanest BOG retainer of the majors. Excludes Lucky 15/31/63 multiples, ante-post, Super Extra Place races and free bets.

Bet365 — BOG on every Royal Ascot race, from 8am, waives first 5p R4
Bet365 runs BOG across UK and Irish horse racing from 8am, singles and multiples, with Bet Boost compatibility. Waives the first 5p Rule 4 deduction in any race — a small but real concession at the margin. Excludes ante-post, Tote and international racing. Each Way Extra (EWE) bets are excluded from BOG — worth checking which side you're on if you toggle EWE on big handicaps. Use code SI365 at registration for the £30 welcome free bets.
William Hill — BOG on Royal Ascot, from 8am, derived markets excluded
William Hill runs BOG across UK and Irish racing from 8am (rolled back from 10am in January 2025). Waives the first 5p Rule 4 deduction. Max £25k/day. Opt-in for some accounts — check your Promotions tab. BOG does not apply to derived markets (e.g., without-favourite, match bets) — a meaningful exclusion on Royal Ascot's big-field handicaps where without-favourite markets are popular. Title sponsor of the 2026 Cheltenham Festival.
Coral — BOG on Royal Ascot, from 8am, £50k daily cap
Coral runs BOG on UK and Irish racing from 8am, with a £50k daily cap (generous relative to Paddy Power's £1,000). Waives the first 5p Rule 4 deduction (Entain stable rule). Standard exclusions (ante-post, Tote, place-only, match bets). Available in shops as well as online.
Ladbrokes — BOG on Royal Ascot, from 8am, sister terms to Coral
Ladbrokes mirrors the Coral terms (both Entain) — BOG from 8am, first 5p R4 waiver, £50k daily cap. Ladbrokes was the first major to waive the first 5p R4 deduction before Bet365, William Hill and Coral matched. Excludes ante-post, Tote and place-only. Skrill/Neteller/Paysafe deposits also excluded.
Sky Bet — BOG on Royal Ascot, but only if you're in the Sky Bet Club
Sky Bet's BOG is the most restrictive of the majors. Available from 9am, with the customer required to have staked £25 in the prior rolling 7-day period to qualify — non-qualifying customers get no BOG at all. £50k daily cap. Excludes Tote, ante-post, money-back races, extra-place races, price boosts and in-running. The Club gate makes Sky Bet's BOG materially harder to access than Betfred or Bet365's universal terms.
Paddy Power — BOG on Royal Ascot, opt-in, £1,000 daily uplift cap
Paddy Power's BOG is opt-in via the .com site and capped at £1,000 daily uplift — meaning the maximum BOG-driven extra winnings any single customer can take in 24 hours is £1,000. From 8am, UK and Irish, singles and multiples. Excludes ante-post, in-running, forecast, place-only, Power Prices and international. The £1,000 cap is one of the lowest in the market and a meaningful constraint for larger Royal Ascot stake sizes.
BoyleSports — BOG on Royal Ascot, from 8am, multiples eligible
BoyleSports runs BOG on UK and Irish racing from 8am, online and Fon-A-Bet only. Excludes ante-post, Tote, place-only and match bets. Multiples eligible. Rule 4 honoured at the uplifted price. Title sponsor of the BoyleSports Irish Grand National.
Star Sports — no BOG (withdrew December 2024)
Star Sports withdrew Best Odds Guaranteed in December 2024 and has not reinstated it. Value at the firm now comes through Star Boosts (curated price boosts on selected runners), the 0800 052 1321 phone trader desk that lays six-figure stakes, and on-course trader pitches at every five days of Royal Ascot.

Summary — pick by your stake size and access
- Universal access, clean terms: Betfred, Bet365, BoyleSports, Coral, Ladbrokes (all 8am BOG, no Club gate, no opt-in)
- Adds R4 waiver: Bet365, William Hill, Coral, Ladbrokes (first 5p deduction waived)
- Has gates / caps: Sky Bet (£25-in-7-days Club), Paddy Power (£1,000 daily cap, opt-in), William Hill (opt-in some accounts), BetMGM (selected players only)
- No BOG: Star Sports (use Star Boosts instead)
For typical retail stake sizes (under £100/bet) and standard Royal Ascot betting patterns (each-way bets on big handicaps, multi-race accumulators across the card), Betfred and Bet365 are the cleanest universal-access BOG retainers. For larger stakes or BOG-driven value over time, the £1,000 daily cap at Paddy Power becomes a constraint that the universal-access firms don't impose.
