Grok logs a short reason with every pick, so we can sort those reasons into themes and see what it actually leans on. Its top two are the human story of the race: trainer and jockey, with form close behind. It reaches for who is saddling and who is riding before it reaches for the bare form figures.

That is how a lot of seasoned punters read a card too, and it is sensible shorthand. A powerful yard in form, or a top jockey booked to travel for one ride, is real information about a horse's chance, and the market moves on exactly that. Grok is picking up a real signal quickly.

The flip side is that the same signal herds you toward the same well-connected, short-priced runners everyone else fancies.
