Will Frankie Dettori ride at Royal Ascot 2026?
No. Royal Ascot 2026 runs from Tuesday 16 to Saturday 20 June, and Dettori has no rides and will not be on the racecard. He is retired, and a retired jockey does not pick up Group 1 bookings at the Royal meeting. The Sporting Life Royal Ascot 2026 antepost preview, published on 7 June 2026, does not list him among the riders [Sporting Life]. There is no scenario, short of an unannounced and frankly unlikely third comeback, in which he partners a runner this year.
That is a genuinely strange sentence to write. Dettori finished his career with 81 winners at Royal Ascot, more than any other jockey then active and the third-highest tally in the meeting's history [Sporting Life], [William Hill]. For most of the past two decades he was spoken of as second only to Lester Piggott on the all-time list — but that framing is now out of date. Ryan Moore overtook Dettori's total at Royal Ascot in 2024 and sits second behind Piggott (116), with Dettori third [Racing Post], [William Hill]. His final four Royal Ascot winners all came at the 2023 meeting, his last as a rider, which is why the tally stopped at 81.
So if he is not riding, will he be there at all? This is where the honest answer is we cannot yet confirm it. As Amo Racing's global brand ambassador, Dettori has an obvious commercial reason to attend — Amo, owned by Kia Joorabchian, is an active owner that regularly runs horses at the meeting — and he would be a natural fit for a media or hospitality presence. But we have found no 2026-dated source that explicitly confirms his attendance, an ambassador engagement, or any punditry role at this year's meeting. Treat any Dettori appearance at Royal Ascot 2026 as not confirmed at declaration.
A word of warning on the search results you may stumble across. Several articles describe Dettori as "expected at Royal Ascot but not in the saddle" and quote his team about enjoying "quality time with family." Those pieces are from June 2024 and refer to Royal Ascot 2024 — they are stale and should not be read as evidence for 2026 [Racing Post]. What is certain for this year is simpler than any of that: he has no rides.

The most natural is Amo Racing. Dettori is the operation's global brand ambassador, and Amo — Kia Joorabchian's owner-breeder set-up — is an established presence at the meeting, the kind of yard that fields multiple two-year-olds and Group horses across the five days [Thoroughbred Daily News]. If you want to follow Dettori's current racing world, the Amo silks are the place to start. Note, though, that exact Amo runners and their jockeys for Royal Ascot 2026 are not yet confirmed; we will know at the declaration and overnight-jockey stages in the days before each race not confirmed at declaration.
The other thread is the Gold Cup, on Thursday 19 June.
