How each-way betting works
An each-way bet is two bets in one — a win bet and a place bet. Your stake is doubled because you are placing two separate bets. If your selection wins, both parts pay out. If it places (typically top 2-4 depending on the race) but doesn't win, only the place part pays. Place returns are calculated at a fraction of the win odds — usually 1/4 or 1/5.
How to use it
- 1Tick "Each-way" below the legs — your total stake doubles (one unit on win + one unit on place).
- 2Pick the place fraction your bookmaker offers. 1/4 odds is standard; 1/5 odds for big handicaps; 1/3 or 1/2 for some Group races.
- 3Enter the odds and stake. The right panel shows the all-win return and the place-only return separately.
Example: each-way single at 8/1
Backing Hardiment each-way at 8/1 with £10 stake costs £20 total. At 1/4 odds, the place pays at 2/1. If Hardiment wins you collect £120 (£90 win + £30 place). If it places only, you get the £30 place return — a £10 profit on a place finish.

Gamble Responsibly
Gambling should be entertaining and not seen as a way to make money. Never bet more than you can afford to lose. If you or someone you know has a gambling problem, help and support is available.
