The 2026 Coronation Cup is the centerpiece of Oaks Day at Epsom and Aidan O'Brien's clearest spring G1 lock-in. Jan Brueghel (A O'Brien / Ryan Moore) is 8/11 ante-post favourite after winning the Ormonde Stakes 2026 at Chester on Thursday 7 May -- O'Brien confirmed post-Ormonde that the Coronation Cup is the named target, with the colt skipping the Belmont Gold Cup berth.
The 2026 Coronation Cup is a Coolmore lock. Jan Brueghel is the defending champion (won the 2025 race by 1¼L from Continuous), and the same yard's Lambourn -- 2025 Derby winner, just-won Huxley -- adds Coolmore's second-string angle. Aidan O'Brien is set up for an unprecedented 1-2 if both run.
