The King George VI Chase is Kempton's Boxing Day showpiece and the mid-season championship for staying chasers, a flat, fast, three-mile test that has crowned nearly every great chaser of the past half-century. This is the full roll of honour from 1970 to 2026 - winner, age, starting price, jockey and trainer - with the age, market and training trends that emerge across the whole history.
Every row is source-verified against two independent records; unsourced cells are left blank rather than guessed. The years the race was lost to frost, or rerun in January, are shown honestly as not run.

What the trends tell you
Read these as history, not a system. Unlike the big handicaps, the King George is run at level weights, so class tells - and the roll of honour is a list of genuine champions. Kauto Star's five wins and Desert Orchid's four are the headline records; Paul Nicholls is comfortably the most successful trainer. Favourites and short prices win far more often here than in a National, because there is no handicapper bringing the field together. None of this is advice, it is simply what the race has done.
