  • TV (UK, free-to-air): ITV1 + ITVX (streaming)
  • TV (UK, subscription): Racing TV (full card both days, including supporting races)
  • First race each day: typically 1:55pm (Friday) and 1:30pm (Saturday)
  • Last race each day: approximately 5:30pm
  • Group 1s: Coronation Cup (Fri), Betfred Oaks (Fri), Betfred Derby (Sat) -- all 1m4f6y
  • Heritage races: Woodcote Stakes (Fri 2yo), Dahlbury Coronation Cup G3 (Sat older miler), Diomed Stakes G3

The big races by day:

  • Friday: Coronation Cup + Oaks day. Coronation Cup (G1, 1m4f6y, 14:45) for older horses; Betfred Oaks (G1, 1m4f6y, 16:00) for 3yo fillies.

Friday 5 June 2026 -- Coronation Cup + Oaks day

ITV Racing broadcast: 1:30pm - 5:00pm BST on ITV1 (parade-ring build-up + Coronation Cup + Oaks). The full Friday card runs to approximately 5:30pm.

[Note: 2026 off-times follow the historical Epsom Derby Festival template. Final times confirmed by Epsom Downs Racecourse approximately 5 days before the meeting.]

Coronation Cup (G1, 4:20pm) -- older middle-distance championship

The 2025 race was won by Jan Brueghel (100/30) for Aidan O'Brien, beating the 8/13 favourite Calandagan by 1/2 L. Time 2m 36.13s on Good-to-Soft / Good-in-places.

For 2026: Jan Brueghel is the defending champion if returning sound. The chief threats are Lambourn (last year's Derby winner stepping up to older company), Whirl (Coolmore filly stepping up from 3yo Pretty Polly form), and any Aga Khan Studs entry post-Calandagan's 2025 form line.

For the dedicated Coronation Cup preview see our Coronation Cup 2026 Preview.

Betfred Oaks (G1, 5:00pm) -- 3yo fillies' Classic

The 2025 race was won by Minnie Hauk (9/2) for Aidan O'Brien, beating Whirl (15/2) by a neck with Desert Flower (11/10F) a beaten 4L 3rd. Time 2m 38.91s. Ryan Moore picked Minnie Hauk over the much more impressive trial winner Whirl. Minnie Hauk went on to win Irish Oaks + Yorkshire Oaks + Arc 2nd; Timeform Champion Filly/Mare 2025 on 127.

For 2026: the picture rebuilds after Sunday 3 May's 1000 Guineas. True Love won the 1000 Guineas at 5/1 SP but is named for the Coronation Stakes (Royal Ascot mile route, NOT Oaks). The Coolmore Oaks lead is Amelia Earhart -- with the Cheshire Oaks (Wed 6 May) as her named prep route.

For the dedicated Oaks preview see our Epsom Oaks 2026 Preview.

Friday's supporting card

The Friday undercard includes the Princess Elizabeth Stakes (G3, older fillies' miler), Diomed Stakes (G3, older miler), and the Woodcote Stakes (Class 2 Conditions, 2yo) -- the latter often producing a Royal Ascot Coventry Stakes runner. Eight consecutive Woodcote winners (2018-2025) had won their previous race.

Saturday 6 June 2026 -- Derby Day

ITV Racing broadcast: 1:00pm - 5:00pm BST on ITV1 (the headline ITV slot of the Derby Festival). The full Saturday card runs to approximately 5:30pm.

[Note: 2026 off-times follow the historical Epsom Derby template. The Derby itself moves to 3:30pm in some years rather than 3:35pm or 4:00pm; final time confirmed by Epsom Downs Racecourse approximately 5 days before the meeting.]

Betfred Derby (G1, 3:30pm) -- the world's premier flat Classic

The 2025 race was won by Lambourn (13/2) for Aidan O'Brien under Wayne Lordan, beating Lazy Griff (50/1) by 3 3/4 L. Tennessee Stud (28/1) 3rd; New Ground (50/1) 4th; Stanhope Gardens (12/1) 5th. Delacroix (2/1F) finished 9th beaten 11 1/2 L; Pride Of Arras (4/1) was 17th of 18; The Lion In Winter (7/1) was tailed off in 14th.

The 2025 lessons for 2026:

  • Hold-up tactics historically underperform at Epsom -- Lambourn pressed the pace
  • Stall position matters more than the betting market -- Lambourn drew the historically lucky stall 10
  • Coolmore's stable jockey decision was wrong (Moore picked Delacroix over Lambourn); Wayne Lordan rode Lambourn to a 13/2 SP win

For 2026: Aidan O'Brien is going for a fourth Derby in succession (Auguste Rodin 2023, City Of Troy 2024, Lambourn 2025). The Coolmore lead is Benvenuto Cellini (Frankel) -- 5/1 Derby favourite via the Chester Vase route on Wednesday 6 May.

For the dedicated Derby tipping see our Epsom Derby 2026 Tips piece.

Saturday's supporting card

The Saturday undercard includes the Investec Derby Trial (Listed, 1m4f, 3yo) -- non-Pattern but a Derby-also-rans landing spot for horses who didn't make the Derby cut. The Oaks Trial (Listed, 1m4f, 3yo fillies) is the Saturday equivalent of Friday's. The Dahlbury Coronation Cup (G3, 1m, 4yo+) is the older miler Group 3 -- distinct from Friday's Group 1 Coronation Cup which runs at 1m4f6y.

Royal Ascot countdown: Royal Ascot 2026 begins Tuesday 16 June -- 10 days after the Derby. The Derby winner typically heads to the Eclipse at Sandown (4 July) or the Irish Derby at the Curragh (28 June) before Royal Ascot's Eclipse-rivalling Prince of Wales's Stakes is targeted at older horses.

How to stream Epsom Derby 2026 (UK)

Free streaming -- ITVX

ITVX is the simplest free option. Carries the live ITV Racing feed for both days of Epsom Derby Festival 2026, free to anyone with a UK IP and a registered ITVX account. Works on browser, mobile (iOS / Android), smart TVs, Chromecast, Fire TV.

  • Cost: Free (with ads). Optional ITVX Premium £3.99/month removes ads.
  • Coverage: Same as the linear ITV broadcast -- full Coronation Cup + Oaks (Friday) and Derby + supporting card (Saturday).
  • Catch-up: Each day's coverage is available on demand for 30 days after the broadcast.
  • Account required: Yes, but free to create. UK postcode requested.

Paid streaming -- Racing TV

Racing TV carries every race, including the supporting-card races that ITV doesn't show on the main broadcast (Friday's Surrey Stakes, Saturday's Investec Derby Trial, etc.). Useful if you want the full card or follow the smaller-field races.

  • Cost: Subscription via Racing TV Player; standard monthly is around £30
  • Coverage: All seven races each day, full UK and Irish racing alongside
  • Mobile + TV apps available

Bookmaker streams (free with placed bet)

Most major bookmakers stream Epsom Derby races to logged-in customers who have a placed bet on the meeting (typically £1 minimum). The race-card pages show a play icon next to each runner. Coverage quality is generally good but with a 5-15 second delay on the live broadcast.

Bookmakers offering live Epsom Derby streams include Bet365, Coral, William Hill, Paddy Power, Sky Bet, Betfred -- most stream the FULL Derby Festival card (not just the ITV-broadcast races).

What about outside the UK?

ITVX is geo-blocked outside the UK. International viewers can use:

  • TVG (US) -- Epsom Derby broadcast live
  • Sky Racing (Australia) -- full coverage live overnight
  • Equidia (France) -- French-language coverage
  • At The Races / SIS affiliated streams in some markets

A funded bookmaker account from a UK firm with a UK-IP VPN is the most reliable workaround for expats, though VPN use against geo-restricted content typically violates the streaming service's terms of use.

Mobile apps and notifications

  • ITV Racing app (free) -- race results + replays + race-time alerts
  • Sporting Life app (free) -- full racecards + tips + race alerts
  • At The Races app (free) -- live odds + result service + paddock comments
  • Bookmaker apps (Bet365, Coral, Paddy Power) -- bet + watch on phone
